摘要
The second-order nonlinear optical susceptibility of a quantum well with an applied electric field is studied theoretically with use of both a parabolic-band model and a valence-band-mixing model. The electronic properties of the asymmetric quantum-well system due to an applied electric field and their effects on the second-order nonlinear susceptibility are illustrated. It is shown that the applied electric field may change the second-order susceptibility significantly. The dispersion of the nonlinear susceptibility using the valence-band-mixing model also shows more features than that using the simple parabolic-band model of previous studies of quantum-well systems. © 1990 The American Physical Society.
