摘要
The surfaces of a series of MoO3/gamma-Al2O3 catalysts have been studied with low-energy ion scattering. Due to several modifications of the equipment it is possible to determine absolute rather than normalized LEIS-signals. Using this facility, it is found that various frequently given interpretations in LEIS literature on catalysts appear to be incorrect. For the present MoO3/gamma-Al2O3 catalyst it is shown that the support material, which is generally assumed to be inert, has a thermal treatment dependent surface structure. This leads to a completely different model for the surface structure of the catalyst as a function of loading.
