A method for the determination of dimethyl sulphide in beer by headspace gas chromatography has been collaboratively tested within ten laboratories of one brewing group at 3 levels from 19.8 to 52.4-mu-g/litre. The repeatability values (r95 were found to be independent of concentration, but a strong linear relationship was found between the mean values (m) and the reproducibility value (R95). The precision data can be summarised as r95 = 3.3-mu-g/litre, R95 = 3.66 + 0.168-mu-g/litre.
