Antagonists of the alpha (v)beta (3) and alpha (v)beta (5) integrins inhibit angiogenesis in cancer, arthritis and ischemic retinopathy. However, a surprising new report suggests that knockout mice lacking beta (3) and/or beta (5) integrins show enhanced, rather than reduced angiogenesis. (pages 27-34).
