An imperfect packing of CCl4 molecules confined in a graphitic slit nanospace

摘要
The intermolecular structures of CCl4 in slit-shaped graphitic micropores having different pore widths of 0.75 to 1.13 nm were determined with the electron radial distribution function (ERDF) using the in situ the X-ray diffraction data at 303 K. The peak position of the ERDF of the confined CCl4 was basically similar to that of bulk liquid, but the feature of the ERDF of the confined CCl4 was different for that of the bulk liquid, depending on the pore width. Although distributions of the nearest to third neighbors for the confined CCl4 were less than those for bulk liquid, the peak of the second neighbor for the confined CCl4 was shifted to the shorter distance. Furthermore, the presence of an unusual ERDF of CCl4 molecules confined in the pore of 0.75 nm width, which arises from the serious restriction for the molecular packing was evidenced.
