Suzuki aryl cross-couplings employing phenylboronic acid and a range of aryl halides proceed under mild conditions with high efficiency using the phosphine-free nickel complexes NiCl2(NEt3)(2) and NiCl2(bipy), both derived from NiCl2. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
