Laser patterned arrays of interfaces in magnetoresistive La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 thin films

With the aim of developing versatile and low-cost technologies for interface engineering in manganites, we report on the fabrication of arrays of interfaces on epitaxial La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 thin films. Interfaces in the films are induced by laser patterning of monocrystalline SrTiO3 substrates. These interfaces are responsible for the low-field tunnel magnetoresistance. The magnetotransport properties, of the upper-grown La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 films, are explored as a function of the characteristics of the interface network. We show that substantial and controllable magnetoresistance values can be obtained. (C) 1999 American Institute of Physics. [S0003-6951(99)03040-5].
