Two types of luminescence from Pb2+ in alkaline-earth carbonates with the aragonite structure

摘要
The luminescence of Pb2+ as a dopant in alkaline-earth carbonates with the aragonite structure is investigated. An ultra-violet and a visible emission band have been observed, both originating from the same center. The former is ascribed to emission from the P-3(0,1) (6s6p) levels of the Pb2+ ion, the latter to emission from a higher level which is probably charge-transfer in nature. The (co-)existence of both bands depends on the host-lattice.
