A novel kind of multilayer film containing horseradish peroxide (HRP) was achieved on the surface of glassy carbon electrode by alternate deposition of HRP and partially quaternized poly(4-vinylpyridine) (QPVP). The electrochemical behavior of the multilayer film was described. The catalytic effect of the multilayer films on the reduction of hydrogen peroxide was studied in detail utilizing methylene green as an electron shuttle. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
