Solution synthesis, optical and magnetic properties of Zn1-xCoxO nanowires

摘要
Diluted magnetic semiconductors Zn1-xCoxO nanowires with nominal Co doping concentrations of x=0%, 1%, 5%, and 10% have been synthesized by a simple hydrothermal route. XRD and high-resolution TEM characterizations indicated that the as-prepared samples were single-crystal line wurtzite structure and no metallic Co or other secondary phases were found in the nanowires. The field dependence of magnetization (M-H curve) measured at room temperature exhibited the obvious ferromagnetic characteristic. The saturation magnetization and coercive field (H-C) were obtained to be 0.1 emu/g and similar to 70 Oe for Zn0.95Co0.05O nanowires. The room temperature ferromagnetism of the synthesized Zn1-xCoxO nanowires makes them potentially useful as build components for spintronic devices. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
