(Figure Presented) Three structures for the price of one: The room-temperature phase of the 2D network [Pb(μ-Cl)2(μ-bipy)] ∞ (bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine) undergoes crystal-to-crystal transformations both upon cooling (see picture; Pb pink, Cl green, N blue, C gray, H white) and upon heating. With increasing temperature, decreased packing efficiency is traded for higher symmetry. © 2006 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
