Laser heated pedestal growth and spectroscopic properties of neodymium doped Ba2NaNb5O15 single crystal fibers

摘要
The elaboration of Nd3+-doped Ba2NaNb5O15 single crystal fibers by the laser heated pedestal growth method is described. Slightly doped fibers are orthorhombic with Pba2 space group and heavier doped fibers are tetragonal with P4bm space group. Low-temperature spectroscopy reveals that Nd3+ ions probably substitute both Ba2+ and Na+ ions. The stimulated emission cross-section near 1060 nm of the F-4(3/2)-->I-4(11/2) channel and its branching ratio is determined with the help of a Judd-Ofelt analysis.
