Reflection-mode phase retardation by dielectric gratings

摘要
A novel approach to the design of visible range phase retardation devices is presented. These elements consist of a dielectric high reflection stack used to realize reflectivity of nearly 100% and of a sub-wavelength grating on top of the stack generating the required phase difference between the two polarization states. Quarter-wave plate design is presented and fabrication and operation tolerances for this element considered. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
