摘要
A theoretical treatment of the influence of inhomogeneous line broadening on autocorrelation traces obtained by femtosecond optical second harmonic generation (SHG) by supported nanoparticles is presented. It is shown that the width of the autocorrelation function is strongly influenced by inhomogeneous broadening, making it difficult, if ndt impossible, to extract reliable values of the plasmon dephasing time from such measurements. Recent experimental results obtained by femtosecond SHG are discussed in the light of the theory developed.
