Generation of cold low divergent atomic beam of indium by laser ablation

摘要
The formation of low-energy (below 100 m/s), low divergence (without any collimation optics) pulsed indium atomic beam via ablation of thin film by direct illumination (unfocused) from the rear side with second harmonic of Q-switched Nd:YAG laser under high vacuum (similar to 10(-5) Torr) is reported. Angular divergence of an ablated indium beam was measured for the different laser powers. Axial atomic and ionic velocities were studied as a function of laser energy per pulse using a beam deflection setup. (c) 2005 American Institute of Physics.
