Angle-resolved photoemission study of M(x)TiS(2) (M=Mn, Fe, Co, Ni; x=1/3, 1/4)

摘要
We have studied the valence band structures of MxTiS2 intercalation compounds and their mother crystal 1T-TiS2 by means of angle-resolved ultra-violet photoemission spectroscopy. Dispersions of some bands are strongly modified depending upon the individual M species. This might be caused by the hybridization between the S 3p and the M 3d ''e(g)'' states. A new band is observed at the binding energy(E(B)) of 1.0eV in Ni1/3TiS2 and at E(B)=0.5eV in Co1/3TiS2. This band has an almost flat dispersion and any corresponding band is not observed in Fe1/3TiS2 and Mn1/4TiS2. We interpret it as the bonding state between the Ti 3d(z)(2) and M 3d(z)(2) states composed of the ''t(2g)'' state.
