摘要
Racemization of optically active secondary alcohols was performed on a heterogeneous Ru/Al2O3 catalyst under mild reaction conditions. The supported ruthenium catalyst is readily available, inexpensive, and capable of being recycled. It successfully racemizes secondary alcohols without any additive or cocatalyst. A convenient synthesis of an expensive steroid alcohol was developed applying the same reaction conditions. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
