摘要
We review the status of the hypothesis that interventions that increase the resistance to stress offer the potential for effective life prolongation and increased health. The work focuses on research in the nematode worm Caenorhabditis elegans and describes both published and unpublished results consistent with this hypothesis. Correlations between stress resistance and longevity among many gerontogene mutants is provided. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Inc. All rights reserved.
