We investigated the preparation of NiZn-ferrite films by inkjet printing. In order to realize uniform NiZn-ferrite films, a theoretical model was employed to predict the optimal ink-droplet pitches for the inkjet-printing of uniform lines. The model predicted that uniform NiZn-ferrite lines can be printed with ink-droplet pitches less than 96 pm. Based on this theoretical study, we successfully printed NiZn-ferrite films of 5-mu m thickness without any cracks by printing once. The inkjet-printed NiZn-ferrite films were annealed at various temperatures to improve their crystallinity and magnetic properties. A saturation magnetization (M-s) of 242 emu/cm(3) was obtained for an inkjet-printed NiZn-ferrite film annealed at 700 degrees C, and the coercivity (H-c) reached a minimum value of 59.71 Oe. Our results contribute to the printing of radio-frequency passive components in integrated electronic systems. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l. All rights reserved.
