We discuss the characteristics of the electronic states of the copper-free layered perovskite superconductor Sr2RuO4, which exhibits a sharp transition with T-c up to 1.35 K. The normal state behavior is characterized as an essentially two-dimensional Fermi liquid, consistent with the Fermi surface determined by the de Haas-van Alphen oscillations. The specific heat jump across T-c is consistent with the gap with line nodes, and the unexpectedly large residual T-linear term is suggestive of exotic pairing.
