摘要
Synthesis of mesoporous TiO2 particles using phosphotungstic acid (PWA) assisted sol-gel method was investigated. At the absence of any template, anatase TiO2 materials with the BET surface area of similar to 150 m(2)/g were successfully prepared via PWA-assisted hydrolysis and polycondensation reactions of tetrabutyl titanate. The calcined TiO2 materials were characterized by X-ray fluorescent spectroscopy (XRF), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and nitrogen adsorption/desorption measurements. XRF analysis shows that phosphotungstic acid (PWA) is successfully introduced into the TiO2 materials. The nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms exhibit the characteristics of mesoporous structure. TEM results indicate that the disordered wormhole-like mesostructure without discernible long-range order is formed by the agglomerization of TiO2 nanoparticles. It is estimated that hydrogen bonds between PWA and hydroxylated tetrabutyl titanate are the essential factor to form this mesoporous structure. (c) 2006 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
