Solute diffusion in poly(vinyl alcohol) poly(acrylic acid) composite membranes prepared by freezing/thawing techniques

摘要
Composite membranes of poly(vinyl alcohol) and poly(acrylic acid) were prepared by freezing and thawing of aqueous solutions of the two components. The ensuing hydrogels and membranes exhibited crystallinity of up to 13.50% (on a swollen basis) due to crystallization of the poly(vinyl alcohol). The membranes prepared under these conditions exhibited size exclusion characteristics. Theophylline and FITC-dextran transport were investigated and the solute diffusion coefficients were correlated with the mesh size of the membranes. Copyright (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
