Selective access to electron donating group substituted (η5-cyclohexadienyl)Mn(CO)3 complexes by bimetallic manganese-palladium activation

Unprecedented (eta(5)-cyclohexadienyl)Mn (CO)(3) complexes bearing an electron-donating group at the end of the pi system have been selectively prepared using Pd catalysis and primary, secondary cyclic, and acyclic amines. This catclytic methodology has been extended to O, S-, and P-based derivatives. The X-ray structure of one coupling product exhibits an unusual conformation in its eta(5) system.
