Monolayer period oscillation of secondary electrons and its application for determining the polarization oscillation period in Au/Fe(110)

摘要
We have observed the monolayer-period oscillation of secondary electrons emitted from Au(111)/Fe(110), excited by a primary electron beam with energies of 70, 1000, and 2000 eV, and with an incident angle of 50 degrees from the sample surface. Using this phenomenon, we have determined the period of the polarization oscillation of secondary electrons emitted from Au/Fe(110), which are thought to be the origin of the oscillatory interlayer magnetic coupling. Our results 10.9+/-0.2 Angstrom, which is comparable to the periods obtained by other researchers.
