Flexible, plastic chemical sensors were fabricated using a thin polymer gate dielectric layer and polymer electrodes patterned via selective wetting directly on the surface of the organic semiconductor film. Low-voltage transistors based on DDFTTF with PEDOT:PSS electrodes had a mobility as high as 0.05 cm(2)/Vs with an on-off ratio of 1.2 x 10(4) on ITO/PET substrates. These devices demonstrated stable operation in water with sensor characteristics similar to those reported on rigid silicon substrates, with sub-ppm detection for cysteine and 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene (TNB).
