摘要：

Successful performance of transthoracic needle biopsy for lung nodules requires accurate placement of the needle tip. Several techniques are described that can be helpful in this process, particularly for small abnormalities. The importance of close collaboration with the cytologist is emphasized. Techniques to decrease the number and severity of complications also are included.
