The [113] growth direction of YBa2Cu3O7-x thin films

摘要
Thin films of YBa2Cu3O7-x were deposited on (1 1 1) oriented SrTiO3 substrates at different substrate temperatures, T-s, in the range between 520 degrees C and 820 degrees C. In the whole T-s range the films grow epitaxially [1 1 3] oriented. At low T-s the growth is homogeneously strained pseudomorphic with narrow mosaic distributions down to 0.04 degrees. Broad mosaic distributions of about 1 degrees are observed at the highest T-s values probably due to strain release by defect incorporation. In the intermediate T-s range internal strain is formed in the films. The oxygenation of the films and thus the appearance of superconductivity with maximum T-s values of 84 K observed at the highest T-s values appears to be strain controlled.
