Iridium(I) complexes containing the eta(1)-N-bonded indolyl ligand

摘要
The reaction of Ir(CO)(Cl)(PPh(3))(2) with indolyllithium reagents has led to the formation of sigma-N-coordinated indolyl derivatives of the formula trans-Ir(CO)(PPh(3))(2)(indolyl), la, when the indolyl ligand is unsubstituted and the 2,3-Me(2)indolyl derivative Ib. Complex Ib has been characterized by an X-ray diffraction study. The indolyl ligand functions primarily as a sigma-donor to the metal ion, and the Ir-N bond is stable to protic acid. Reaction with triflic acid results in protonation at the 3-position of the heterocycle and formation of an indolenine complex.
