Optical non-linearity in beta-carotene: new insight from electroabsorption spectroscopy

摘要
We report experimental electroabsorption data for beta-carotene in the energy range from 1.3 to 5 eV which disclose a rich spectrum of excited states including the 2A(g) state. These data allow a reassessment of the current understanding of the optical non-linearity of this model conjugated system. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
