Nb surface morphology as a template for heteroepitaxial stacking

摘要
We report mesoscopic surface morphologies that occur on Nb surfaces during normal epitaxial growth on miscut sapphire. These features are remarkably effective as growth templates which give selectivity up to approximately 10(3) : 1 between the two alternative stacking sequences of fee metals, when grown heteroepitaxially on Nb.
