Racemic difluorinated carbocyclic homo-nucleoside analogues are easily accessible from (Z)-4-(benzyloxy)-2-butenyl acetate by difluorocyclopropanation using sodium chlorodifluoro acetate in diglyme at 190 degrees C followed by Mitsunobu reactions.
