摘要
Multilayer approximations of thermophysical profiles are shown to be numerically consistent with direct analytical solution (when this exists) of the a.c. heat diffusion equation. They are also consistent with analytical approximations of the continuous problem. In case of smooth profiles, the Riccati equation for the thermal waves furnishes one simple approximation of the a.c. temperature for the sample surface which is compared with the multilayer and WKB responses.
