Sodium bromide catalysed three-component cyclocondensation of aryl aldehydes, alkyl nitrites and dimedone proceeds under microwave irradiation in solvent free conditions to give highly functionalised tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans in excellent yields. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
