THE CONFINED ELECTRON-GAS IN MODULATION DOPED QUANTUM-WELLS

摘要
The confined electron gas in modulation doped quantum wells is studied by means of a self-consistent calculation using the Hedin-Lundqvist density functional for exchange and correlation. The need for a reliable knowledge of the position of the Fermi level is critically discussed. Comparison is made with experimental data on total and - where available - partial subband population and the role of the different parameters characterizing each sample is discussed and demonstrated with suitable calculations and experimental evidence.
