A series of N-substituted DMT-hydroxymethylpyrrolidinol phosphoramidites has been prepared from trans-4-hydroxyproline. These can be coupled in high yield and purity using automated synthesis techniques, allowing a wide range of functionalities to be introduced into phosphodiester oligomers.
