INTERACTIONS BETWEEN AGAROSE AND KAPPA-CARRAGEENANS IN AQUEOUS-SOLUTIONS

摘要
Blends of agarose and carrageenan were investigated at different temperatures by optical rotation, calorimetry, and mechanical tests. It was shown that the conformational change of either of the two polymers is independent of the other. The contribution of the polymers to the elastic modulus of the binary gel are additive. The temperature dependence of the elastic modulus of the carrageenan gels shows that energy is stored on deformation as a change in enthalpy. © 1990.
