10GBIT/S DATA-TRANSMISSION USING TOP EMITTING VCSELS WITH HIGH SIDEMODE SUPPRESSION

摘要
Intensity modulation of proton implanted top-surface emitting vertical-cavity lasers at 10 Gbit/s pseudorandom data rates is demonstrated. The bit error rate (BER) remains < 10(-11) after transmission over 500 m of graded index multimode fibre. The sidemode suppression under modulation of the small diameter laser is better than 25 dB.
