KINK-PROFILE VIBRATIONAL-MODES IN ONE-DIMENSIONAL NONLINEAR LATTICES

摘要
It is shown that highly localized discrete modes may exist on a nonlinear standing background wave. In the framework of the rotating wave approximation, a few types of such modes are found analytically and numerically for the chain of particles interacting through harmonic and quartic anharmonic potentials in the case of the so-called ''hard'' nonlinearity. The case of ''soft'' nonlinearity is also briefly discussed.
