摘要
The interaction of energetic ion beams with solids causes recoil-induced atom transport and enhances thermally activated diffusion. It also produces defect fluxes which may induce significant atomic redistributions far from thermodynamic equilibrium. The fundamentals of these different mechanisms are sketched. Selected examples illustrate the significant influence on the stability of phases in the target material. The parameters of beam and target controlling the phase stability are pointed out. © 1990.
