PREDICTION OF SATISFACTORINESS AND SATISFACTION - AN 8-YEAR FOLLOW-UP

Four propositions from the Theory of Work Adjustment (Dawis and Lofquist, 1984) were examined in a sample of 115 young adults followed up 8 years after their original aptitude and interest testing as high school seniors. Congruent with the theory, results indicated that aptitude-job correspondence predicted performance satisfactoriness and that satisfaction accounted for significant additional variance in the prediction. Also as expected from the theory, interest-job correspondence and satisfactoriness both predicted satisfaction, but they predicted different measures of satisfaction, and only when current interests rather than the original interests were used. © 1993 Academic Press, Inc.
