SYNTHESIS AND STRUCTURE OF [3.3]ORTHOCYCLOPHANE

摘要
The title compound (1) was synthesized by desulfurization of 2,13-dithia[4.4]orthocyclophane. The molecular structure of 1 which has antiperiplanar arrangement of the two benzene rings was obtained by an X-ray crystallographic analysis. Molecular mechanics calculation using MM3 and our MMRS program has indicated that the anti structure found in crystal is the most stable conformer. Variable temperature H-1 NMR measurement has disclosed that the contribution of the conformers other than the anti is negligible.
