SURFACE INTERACTION BETWEEN METHANE AND ALKALI ALKALINE-EARTH OXIDE CATALYSTS

摘要
The interaction of methane with alkali/alkaline-earth oxide catalysts (NaOHCaO, NaOHBaOCaO) was investigated at 350, 500 and 750°C using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Methane interacted with surface carbonate at temperatures of 500 and 750°C while no reaction was observed at 350°C. Intermediate states registered on the surface consisted of methoxy species and carbonyl groups. Mechanistic aspects of the high-temperature oxidative methane conversion reaction tentatively derived from these results are discussed. © 1991.
