MOMENTUM DISTRIBUTIONS FOR THE VALENCE ORBITALS OF HYDROGEN-FLUORIDE

摘要
The binding energy spectra and momentum distributions for the three valence orbitals of hydrogen fluoride have been obtained using the binary (e,2e) method at a total energy of 400 eV. The experimental shapes of the momentum distributions are compared with results of calculations using the wavefunctions of Snyder and Basch. Agreement is quite good for the 2σ inner valence orbital. However, significant differences between theory and experiment are found for the 1π and 3σ orbitals. In particular the 1π orbital is more spatially extended than the calculated wavefunctions suggest. © 1979.
