EFFECTS OF BUFFER LAYER MATERIALS ON MAGNETORESISTANCE IN NI-FE/CU MULTILAYERS

摘要
We discuss changes in film structure and magnetoresistance in Ni-Fe/Cu multilayers with various buffer layer materials. The multilayers with Fe, Fe-30 at% Co or Fe-19 at% Cr buffers have [100] preferred orientations. For Zr, Hf, Ta or Ti buffers, strong [111]-oriented multilayers are formed. These multilayers show higher magnetoresistance ratios when interfaces are sharper.
