SCANNING TUNNELING TOPOGRAPHY AND SPECTROSCOPY OF SILVER ON GRAPHITE

摘要
This paper presents some experimental results obtained with silver films and particles evaporated on graphite. We have recorded I-t-V-t characteristics in air and in vacuum on identical samples. The most important difference between the two families of characteristics is the existence of differential negative resistance in air. This evidences the role of the surrounding samples in the formation of the tunnel current.
