Probing enzyme polymer biosensors using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy: Determination of glucose oxidase in electropolymerised films

摘要
In this paper, we describe the use of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to determine the amount of glucose oxidase entrapped in both conducting (poly(pyrrole)) and non-conducting (poly(o-phenylenediamine)) electropolymerised films. We show that, in the case of poly(pyrrole) films, relatively large changes in the concentration of enzyme in the growth solution, over the range investigated, result in modest changes in the amount of enzyme immobilised in the polymer matrix. In addition, we also demonstrate that, for the poly(o-phenylenediamine) based biosensor, an increase in the length of adsorption times prior to electrodeposition of the polymer, leads to greater amounts of entrapped enzyme in the film.
