摘要
Apoptosis detection using magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy is discussed. The applicability for detecting apoptosis in a clinical setting is also discussed. The potential of the methods is compared with other methods such as radionuclide imaging. The process of apoptosis is mediated by increasingly well-defined signaling pathways in the cell. MR spectroscopy is a valuable and now indeed venerable tool for the non-invasive investigation of metabolism in intact cells and tissues.
