A* + B → [C]*→ D* Asymmetric domino reactions are reviewed for the first time. The first part of the review deals with asymmetric domino reactions based on the use of chiral auxiliaries, covering the classification and characteristics of these reactions together with the most important applications. This compilation clearly demonstrates that the concept of asymmetric domino reactions has emerged as a powerful tool in asymmetric synthetic chemistry. © 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
