High-temperature oxidation behaviors of the (Ti1-xCrx)N coatings

摘要
The influence of the Cr content on oxidation resistance was studied and inert-marker diffusion experiments were carried out to identify the mobile species during oxidation. (Ti,Cr)N coatings began to oxidize at temperatures above 800deg;C, and the oxide layers were composed of Ti-rich and Cr-rich oxide layers from the surface to the substrate. The mobile species were mainly Ti and O and oxidation of the (Ti,Cr)N coating appeared to be controlled by Ti and O diffusion through the dense Cr3O3 layer at temperatures near 900°C.
