Silver-mediated synthesis of heterocycles

A summary on heterocyclizations wherein silver salts are an important aspect of it has been given. These include: the addition of nucleophiles to alkynes, allenes, and olefins; the cycloaddition reactions that focuses on enantioselective [3+2]-cycloaddition of azomethine ylides and nitrilimines and [4+2]-cycloaddition of imines. It has been found out that silver complexes are efficiently catalyzing the intramolecular addition of oxygen and nitrogen nucleophiles to alkynes, allenes and olefins. A useful route can be provided by this silver-catalyzed asymmetric aza-Diels-Alder reactions to optically active nitrogen-heterocyclic compounds. Furthermore, silver is capable of enriching heterocyclization methods and is useful for chiral silver complexes.
